Meetings are the second Wednesday of every month and are held at the First Congregational Church High St Hanson (unless otherwise noted). Meetings include special speakers, gardening workshops and much more.

Annual Pot Luck Dinner, Yankee Swap & Garden Tour
Garden/Bird Tour will be held at Bill Benner's/Rhinland Acres, 709 Plymouth St, East Bridgewater (close to the YMCA) between 5-6:30pm Following the tour we will meet at the Thomas Mill in Hanson for the Potluck Dinner & Yankee Swap

Salsa, Salsa, Salsa & Herbs
Mark Ryan a cooking teacher at the WHRHS will tell us the best herbs to grow in our area. He will also talk about the best time to harvest, how to preserve and how to use herbs. Each member is encouraged to bring their own homemade salsa and Mark will choose the top 3.
We will have a silent auction table of 3 specimens up for auction - Highest bidder wins!

Putting Our Gardens to Bed
Suzanne Mahler will describe fall gardening activities including transplanting, lawn care, bulbs, preparing new gardens, winter protection and general tips for preparing the garden for the winter weather. Come learn how to extend your gardening time and make the most of this phase of you garden's yearly cycle.
We will again have a silent auction table of 3 specimens up for auction - Highest bidder wins!

Hospice Christmas Tree
Theme - "The Snowman"
Members will be asked to create snow goods in the October meeting and to bring them back to the November meeting. All supplies will be furnished. We need a top hat. Does anybody have one?
November 10, 2010 Holiday Decorations Paul Watt from Kennedy's Country Garden will be creating holiday decorations for the home. Topiaries to swags to floral designs. All of the finished greens made tonight will be raffled off at the end of the presentation. This meeting is a joint meeting. White Pines Garden Club will be joining us this evening. 7-9pm December 8, 2010 Boxwood Tree Workshop Oldies but Goodies. Years ago we made our own boxwood trees and this year we shall try it again. Members are encouraged to bring in their own decorations for the end result. There will be a $5.00 charge for this workshop and a sign up sheet will be passed around the month before. Listen to Christmas Carols,nibble on sweets and holiday cheer with our fellow gardeners. 7-9pm January 12, 2011 Jeopardy Presented by Les Wyman This is a joint meeting with the Mattakeesett Garden Club of Pembroke. Depending upon attendees the clubs will be divided into groups. One garden club group against the other until the last group is still standing. Mr Wyman will have categories and five questions for each category. When you know the answer ring you bell.... 7-9pm February 9, 2011 Members Holiday Special We have stressed over the weather for the past two years, this year we will have our holiday social and enjoy the cold amongst friends and a nice warm fire. We will hold our traditional Yankee Swap. Please bring a wrapped gift with an approximate value of $10.00 and share good wishes with other members. A sign up sheet will be passed around in January's meeting. 7-9pm March 9, 2011 Organic Vegetable Gardening Presented by Rita Wollmering This is another joint meeting with the Green Hanson Group. Rita is founder of the "The Herb FARMacy", she is an expert on herbs and going green. She will lecture us on going green and how to have a small garden that provides your family with all the vegetables you'll need for the summer and beyond. 7-9pm April 13, 2011 The Rose Man Presented by Irwin Ehrenreich The program will cover rose classification and the care of roses from spring pruning through winter protection. Finally, there will be a slide show of Irwin's rose gardens in Barnstable and at Edaville in Carver. He will show how the gardens were designed and go over structure, layout and ornaments. 7-9pm May 9 2011 ANNUAL PLANT SALE Our yearly fundraiser will again be held at the Thomas Mill, Rte 58 in Hanson. 9-12am May 11, 2011 Container Workshop Presented by Elaine Wright All members will be able to create their own container. Choose from sun, shade or herb. Elaine will demonstrate creating a container and then all members will be able to create their own to take home and nurture over the summer months. There will be a cost of $5.00 for this workshop, should you choose to do more than one container the cost will be $10.00 for each additional one. All members are asked to sign up in the month of April as to which container they will be doing. All members are asked to bring in their own potting soil and container. The plants will be provided. 7-9pm June 8, 2011 Annual Pot Luck Dinner, Yankee Swap and Local Garden Tour We will be touring a garden in Norwell. In this garden you will see perennials, spring ephemerals, biennials, shrubs native plants and more. THis garden specializes in plants for the shade. Yes, you will be able to purchase plants. We iwll either return to the Thomas Mill for our Dinner and swap or to Bonny's home. TBA
