Meetings are the second Wednesday of every month and are held at the First Congregational Church High St Hanson (unless otherwise noted). Meetings include special speakers, gardening workshops and much more.

“Butterflies and their Life Cycle”

Ginny is a longtime member of our garden club and she will demonstrate the full life cycle of our common “Hanson Grown” butterflies along with providing a listing of many plants that butterflies love to live among.

Hospice Christmas Tree Workshop

Chairperson – Joan Godwin

Theme: “It’s a Golden Christmas”

Once again this year we will create many “one of a kind” ornaments that will decorate a Christmas tree at Plymouth Plantation to be auctioned with the proceeds going to the Plymouth Cranberry Hospice. This is such a worthwhile endeavor we encourage all members to mark this date on their calendars to be sure they are available to participate.

“Holiday Pot Luck Dinner”

Bring your favorite dish and join your gardening friends for this delicious holiday dinner. We will also have our annual cookie swap so make up a batch of your favorite cookies to share and bring along copies of the recipe too.

“ A Year in the Life of a Beehive”

Presented by Howard Scott

Beekeeper Howard Scott has been a beekeeper in Pembroke for more than 25 years. He is the author of the well know book “Bee Lessons” along with 3 other books related to bees. He has spoken to many garden clubs and ran a program at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell that was sponsored by the Center and two regional environmental groups. Copies of his book will be on sale for $4.25. Open to the public.

“Traffic Islands 10 Years Later”

Presented by Sally McGuire Muspratt

Sally spoke with our garden club in 1999 and will provide us with comparisons of our traffic islands then and now. She will also share with us effective perennial and annual planting suggestions for rural/residential areas.

“Herbology”

Presented by Beverly Brouillette from “Backyard Apothecary”

Open to the Public Beverly will share her knowledge with us about herbs, teas, salves, creams and pampering. Bring along a bowl or basin and bath towel and enjoy an herbal steam facial or soothing foot soak followed by sample moisturizing cream. ($4. material fee for facial or foot soak, $6. for both)
